The difference between a recurrent dream and a night shift only exists on paper. Those who work the latter know the two to be of kin. It starts at the locker room. A nightly ritual at an industrial scale. An individual transformation to serve a role within a framework with a singular focus. Their body language is punctual, mechanical and mundane. Their uniforms are tailored to build something.
Most night shifts require a level of alertness completely unnatural to the human circadian rhythm. We adapt. But sometimes the mind slips out of the workers uniform and wanders off into a place devoid of weight and outline. A place of broken clocks and no exit signs. One must dance their way out. If they manage to hold on to something then it’s theirs to keep. This installation represents the thin frontier that exists between labour and art.
